Wheely Bug's Wild Ride

Remember junior high gym class? Sheesh! you think. If you're about my age, you're back to polyester, embarrassingly short shorts, huh? Yikes.
I'm not trying to make you regress, really.
I was thinking about these "scooters" we'd play indoor, rainy-day games on. They were simply flat squares with swivel wheels on the bottom. And our gym teachers would invent games for the extra-cold Illinois winter days, when we were struck with cabin fever. Crashing into one another was probably the goal for most of us. Yep, like flat office chairs, they were definitely fun.

Here's why I had the 7th grade flashback: the Wheely Bug.
During our Local Festival on Saturday, kids ages 3 to 9 discovered--and fell in love with--this zooming toy. It was a day of wild rides through the store. And it got me to thinkin' about the holidays...

Looking for the one great "big" present? This is it.
The Lowdown:

  • Zoom! These are zippy little creatures that are easy to handle. Kids can feel like they're going for a wild ride, but the swiveling caster wheels allow them to turn easily and quickly.
  • Tough. If I had a dollar for every time the kiddos crashed those bugs... And still, no bruises on either the goods or the kids. Phew! The wooden frame is built to last, and the PU synthetic leather is great for longtime wear. Think sports: it feel soft like leather, but is durable like a football or soccer ball.
  • Safe. We're all looking for safe toys this holiday season. The leather-like covering is a water-resistant, easy-to-clean PU "leather." It is, of course, PVC-free; an animal friendly, safe alternative to leather.
  • Stylin'. What kid wouldn't like a bug ride, decorated like a Ladybug, a Bee, or even a Cow? The bright colors and adorable antennae (or horns!) make these a ride you'll get a goofy grin over.
  • Affordable. This one's key. You're looking for the "big" present for the holiday season. The one the kids won't forget. But you're on a budget and trying for a gift that will last for years. The Wheely Bug is it. It's a bargain at just under $80.
  • Balance. The Wheely Bugs are great for gross motor skill development. When babe is first working those little legs, she can hop on her Wheely Bug Cow and move herself along. Plus, she'll have the support handle for confidence while she tests out her newfound balancing skills. Yeehaw!
  • Long Lasting. Besides the durability, this gift will be a playroom favorite for years. As soon as your critter can push or scootch, she can hop on. And though the weight "limit" is 50 pounds, your older kids will want to hop on for a ride, too. Sharing hands, kids, sharing hands.

Check the Wheely Bugs out. Chances are, once you pick one up for your favorite critter, you'll find other kids who "need" one, too.
(And no more junior high flashbacks, I promise.)
